Membership Funding for BIPOC Library and Archives Students
The MiALA Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee is soliciting applications for the Membership Funding for BIPOC Library and Archives Students Initiative. Following the success of last year’s membership funding initiative, a total of 10 library/archives students will be selected to receive funding for 1 year of MiALA membership (2022-2023).
Interested individuals should complete an application form. Selection criteria for granting membership funding are provided below.
Applicants must:
- Identify as a Black and/or Indigenous person, or as a Person of Color
- Be actively pursuing a library/archives degree either part-time or full-time
Special consideration will be given to applicants who:
- Are experiencing financial hardship
- Currently serve, have served, or will be serving underrepresented populations at academic, college, or research libraries or institutions, including junior, community, or technical colleges; vocational institutions; rural institutions; Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs); and etc.
- Are new to MiALA
Applications will open on April 1st, 2022 and will close on May 31st, 2022. Decisions will be announced June 20th, 2022, allowing for membership for all selected applicants to begin July 1st, 2022. Please contact Sheila Garcia Mazari (garcishe@gvsu.edu) with any questions.
